We are currently seeking both a full time and part-time (24-32 hours per week) Commis Chef / Chef De Partie to join our busy Gardeners Kitchen Restaurant team of chefs. Both positions are mostly day-time only working hours with no split shifts.
The ideal candidates will need to be team players, work in a clean and organised manner and be passionate about producing good quality products. Both positions will include weekend shifts on a rota basis.
Our very popular “day-time” restaurant has won a number of local and national awards since its launch in 2005. We are well known for excellent food standards and we always use fresh, local ingredients wherever possible. We serve breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas whilst also baking a wide range of cakes and savouries for café and take-away farm shop sales seven days a week.
We are seeking an experienced Full Time Commis/CDP Chef. The successful candidate must be punctual, efficient, clean and tidy, able to work as part of a team, able to follow instructions but also use own initiative.
We are an independent and family owned business that prides itself on homemade and freshly prepared food using seasonal produce. You will be required to work 5 days a week, daytime hours only, including weekend days (rota basis). We are closed for 3 days at Christmas, New Years Day and Easter Sunday making this a good position for someone looking for a better work/life balance.
You will be working under our head chef to deliver food to a high standard in a fast paced environment from breakfast to lunch service and also afternoon teas.
We are looking for a highly motivated, hardworking individual with a passion for food. You will be required to learn all parts of the kitchen, this will include prep lists and stock management. You will also be required to make sure the kitchen remains clean and tidy at all times.
A Kitchen Porter is required for our daytime-only restaurant. You will be required to work 8 hour shifts (mornings and afternoons), 5 days a week including one day at the weekend. The successful candidate will work under our Head Chef and will be responsible for operating the dishwasher, cleaning and also some veg prep and other tasks required by the chefs. The successful candidate will be hard working and well organised and able to work within a team. We are conveniently located 10 minutes from Norwich with a very nearby bus stop if you are needing to use public transport. Free on-site car parking is also available.
Summary of role
We are currently seeking a team member who will primarily be based in our farm shop, working every Sunday, Monday and Wednesday. You will also be required to assist from time to time in our restaurant and / or garden centre cash desks as part of your normal shifts.
Normal Working Hours
Sundays 9.45am – 4.45pm
Mondays 8.45am – 4.45pm
Wednesdays 9am – 4.30pm
(In addition to this you may also be offered the opportunity to work additional shifts for holiday cover etc)
Your main responsibilities would be to serve customers in our farm shop and to main stock levels and quality of produce throughout the day. At times you will regularly be required to work on your own. You will be operating a till and be involved in a wide variety of retail and housekeeping tasks. Above all you will need to provide a friendly and helpful experience for all of our customers.
Who Are We Looking For?
Above all you must be exceptionally friendly, quick to learn and have plenty of initiative. This is a physically active role and you will be “working on your feet” all day. You will often be required to lift weights up 25kg, so you will need to be reasonably strong and have plenty of stamina.
Previous experience in food retail is not essential although if you have worked in a customer facing role before, this would be a big advantage.
The minimum age for this position is 17 years old.
