Wow, what a day!
The day began with an incredibly early start picking salad leaves – 4am! – to serve at the Norfolk Show, certainly not a glamorous job but a very necessary one!
By 8.30 we knew that we had been awarded the prestigious Gold Medal for our Flower Display and a Silver Gilt for our Salad Display at the Royal Norfolk Show. Having spent weeks planning and days (and nights!) setting up, we were incredibly pleased and we are very proud of this achievement. We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone that helped with this, including staff, friends and family who all gave us a hand in whatever way they could.
But the day didn’t stop there! After a very busy morning dealing with hundreds of visitors to our stand, it was time for lunch with the Don. Monty Don that is! We served him our Gourmet Salad with chicken. He was very complimentary and liked very much that we are a local firm providing home-grown ingredients.
The same salad is available to buy from our Salad Bar next to our display in the Flower Show Marquee. It makes a great alternative to a hot dog or burger and will be freshly picked again in the morning. It is also available with roasted vegetables as a vegetarian option.
Of course, with James anywhere near, we also had to have a dessert option! So, our Chef Wayne was handing out a selection of sample desserts, including lemon meringue pie and Snickers Cheesecake. Needless to say, these went very quickly!
We will be back again at the show for the second day tomorrow and we are looking forward to seeing many of you there, come over to our display to see the plants, try the desserts and buy a delicious lunch.
