To complement our home-grown crops, we also source plants from carefully selected growers, who almost without exception, are based in the East of England. It is Green Pastures policy to use local suppliers wherever possible, so many of our growers are based in or nearby to Norfolk so we can visit the nurseries and hand pick our plants whenever we can.
Let us introduce you to some of our growers:
The husband and wife team of Ann and David Green (now joined by son Nicholas) have been growing plants for James for almost 20 years since they started business in 1989. Based on the Norfolk / Cambridgeshire border where their nursery has grown to 13 acres, they now produce over 700 varieties of perennial plants.
RW Walpole is a long established fruit specialist, based near Kings Lynn, Norfolk. Twenty nine varieties of strawberries are 17 varieties of Raspberries are grown ensuring we can offer you the a wide choice of locally grown soft fruit.

Roger Ward is a conifer specialist and one of the most respected in his field. He produces a very wide range of dwarf conifers, hedging plants, grafted pines and blue spruce in many sizes from his nursery in Boston.
-
Allan Read (right) is now the 4th generation of the Read family to head their long established nursery which was founded by his Great Grandfather in 1910. Whilst this Dereham based grower has almost a century of experience to fall back on, he’s no stranger to all the advantages of modern day plant varieties and growing practices. Allan supplies us with a wide range of bedding and pot plants throughout the year. -
Since Pam Godfrey (below) started her nursery 30 years ago in a single 8ft x 6ft greenhouse she hasn’t looked back. It wasn’t long before she invested in a small extension and one thing then led to another and a series of large glasshouse structures has turned her Shipdham nursery into a thriving family affair. Pam has grown bedding plants and perennials for Green Pastures ever since we moved to our Mill Road site so we literally have both grown together!
