Our brand new and much expanded meat section is without doubt one of the high lights of the new look Green Pastures Farm Shop. Our mission was to find you the very tastiest locally farmed meats and we searched high and low throughout Norfolk and Suffolk until we found them…
Roast Bacon, Sausages, Pork and Hams from Lane Farm, Brundish
You’ll have to go a very long way indeed to find pork as good as this but now you can find it right on your doorstep here in our farm shop! Try some of the delicious specialities; James is convinced that the pork with apple and apricot sausages are the best you’ll ever taste and the Suffolk Roast (loin of pork stuffed with apricots and wrapped in streaky bacon) has quite a following. Make sure you try the Brundish bacon and ham too!
Beef, Lamb, Poultry and Game from Harveys Pure Meat of Norwich
All of Nigel Harvey’s meats are sourced from local farmers and each week he updates us on exactly which meats have been supplied by which farms. We ensure that this information is displayed so you can see exactly where you meat has come from and the name of the farmer who reared it. Most of Harvey’s meats are organic from animals reared to the highest standards of animal welfare and hygiene. Not only can we be confident of its source; we are extremely proud of its quality too.
Wild Venison from the Norfolk and Suffolk Countryside
Both tasty and good for you; there’s many reasons to try our local venison. Presented in a variety of cuts there’s something for every taste and style of cooking. Our favourite way to eat this fine meat is in a simple red wine marinade, with juniper berries added if you prefer, with baby new potatoes. Check out our recipe page for further suggestions.
Pork Pies from Brays Cottage, North Norfolk
Hailed as the perfect pork pie; these little beauties simply have to be tasted to be believed! James hated pork pies until he first sampled one of these after he heard about them from a friend and now he’s hooked! Freshly baked in the farm shop every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Pies and Sausage Rolls from Goulbornes of Beddingham
These much acclaimed pies are skilfully prepared by the Goulborne family in Beddingham, using the finest local ingredients before being rushed into the farm shop for you to enjoy. Michelle swears by the Six Nations Pie, so called as it has an ingredient from each of the six rugby nations.
Despite its continental appearance our salami is born, bred and prepared just down the road in Suffolk. Each Salami is hand made before being hung up to dry for up to 6 months, during which time they loose 40% of their weight. The outside is covered in a white mould similar to the one found on Camembert cheese. This protects the Salami from outside elements. Because salami is fermented it has many natural health benefits, for example, it contains lactic acid bacteria which can help maintain a healthy digestive system
