Our family has grown fruit and vegetables in Bergh Apton for almost 90 years and today’s farm shop continues our long standing tradition of serving local residents with quality local produce.
Green Pastures’ recently refurbished farm shop now offers an extensive selection of produce, both from the doorstep and around the world.
A number of new home-grown crops are being grown this year, to complement our existing crops such as Bob’s much sought after asparagus. Our policy is to source as much produce as we can locally, and we are pleased have Paul Bloomfield of Alpington (less than 2 miles away) and the Aldis family of Framingham Earl (4 miles away) as regular growers, to supplement our own seasonal crops. Many other growers from Norfolk, Suffolk and the East of England are used throughout the year to keep your food as local as possible.
Although many of our customers like to make the most of all this seasonal produce, it will always be necessary for us to source additional produce from further afield (have you ever tried cropping bananas in Norfolk?!) To ensure that Green Pastures customers receive the pick of the crops, James sets off at 5am each morning to personally select the very best and the very freshest produce from the wholesalers to ensure our farm shop starts the day with some of the tastiest fare around.
